The next revision of the 4 axis stepper controller is in the works. The first design was made to be as inexpensive as possible. Texas Instruments provided a very good reason to redesign when the released their newer msp430 uControllers. So I am redesigning around the MSP430F55xx uController. The stepper drivers are the same as the old version.
I am currently laying the design out and have decided to make two different versions. Marcin at http://opensourceecology.org/ has some specific design requests and I have decided to split the project in two. We have two different design goals. I am still looking at making the most inexpensive USB interfaced controller possible. Marcin is looking for ease of DIY manufacture. To that end I am creating a version without the sub mm pin spacing that is in the current version and leaving the choice of interface to others (parallel port, aurdino breakout, USB.)
If there is any design requests please let me know.

Ok, can we also make the millable the 'least expensive' version? Why are you considering the parport version for mine as opposed to USB? Are we designing the parport version for use with EMC, and USB version for not using EMC? Can you discuss the toolchain from circuit design to stepper motor control that is consistent with open source principles - what software and hardware is in the whole chain? If you can identify the gaps in the tool chain, that takes us half the way to addressing them. Is it practical for you to make a parallel AND USB version for the millable board?
