I am sure you know the basics of how a steam generator work, but here is my overview:
I would reuse empty propane cylinders as the boiler. I think they are just about perfect for this purpose- they are free, it keeps them out of landfills, they are designed for high pressure, and they have the two fittings I need. The large fitting would be drilled out and used as the high pressure port, while the little fitting on the side would be used for the water inlet.
The inlet sprays water into the cylinder, which is being heated by the fire. This causes steam to flow out of the large inlet and into a small turbine. This turbine is used to power a generator(for the electricity), and a small pump which is used to spray more water into the cylinder as previously mentioned.
The steam that leaves the turbine is sent to a condenser that is placed in a hole near your campsite filled with water. This acts as a heatsink, recondensing the water that will go back into the pump. This part is optional, you could just as well vent the steam off and supply fresh water from a stream or lake, but I personally usually camp far enough away from water that I wouldn't want to have to carry that long of a hose.
I generate at least 10 empty propane cylinders a year. I know a lot of other people do as well judging from the trash I see around campsites. If we could reuse these it would keep them out of landfills, and increase the value of their initial production.

I have found a lot of useful information from this platform. I must say that sharing your thoughts with one another is an easy way to relax yourself in the daily hectic routines.
